Zoozer Tips to Keep You Rolling Smoothly

Are you a proud owner of a Zooz Bike looking to keep it in top condition? Look no further! Here are some expert tips on how to upgrade and maintain your Zooz Bike for optimal performance and longevity.

Regular Cleaning and Inspection

One of the most important aspects of maintaining your Zooz Bike is regular cleaning and inspection. Dirt and grime can build up over time, affecting the performance of your bike. Make sure to clean your bike after each ride and inspect it for any signs of wear and tear.

Check out our Pre Ride Inspection Video on our Zooz Resources Page for a step by step guide for what to look for when inspecting your bike.

Proper Lubrication

Keeping your bike properly lubricated is essential for smooth operation. Make sure to lubricate the chain and other moving parts regularly to prevent friction and wear. This simple step can significantly extend the lifespan of your Zooz Bike.

Regular Maintenance Schedule

Creating a regular maintenance schedule for your Zooz Bike is key to keeping it in top condition. During the break in period ( within the first 50 miles) we recommend doing a full tune up on the bike to double check all the bolts are secure and nothing has loosened up.

Ebikes experience greater forces and higher vibrations than regular bikes. Please note that it is extremely important to do routine maintenance and inspections on your bike before and after each ride to ensure safety and to prevent damage or injury.

Schedule routine tune-ups with a professional bike mechanic to check for any issues and make necessary adjustments. We recommend checking all the bolts ever 200 - 300 miles to ensure that everything is secure and dialed. This proactive approach can prevent costly repairs down the line.

Battery Care

Your battery is one of the most crucial parts of your bike, it is also the most expensive part on your bike.

There are a lot of variables that can affect your batteries range. Your body weight, how much you pedal, what terrain you're riding on, if you're going uphill or riding on a flat surface, your tire pressure, wind, as well as other factors.

Here are some tips to help maximize the range of your battery.

  • Charge the battery at a comfortable temperature range between 65°F - 75°F (18.3°C-23.9°C).
  • Lithium-ion batteries have no chemical memory, and it is not necessary to discharge the battery completely for the best performance. Charging a partially full battery will have no negative effect.
  • The ideal charge range to maximize the life of your battery is around 40% - 80% charged.
  • Maintain proper tire pressure and lube the chain regularly.
  • Operating temperatures between 40°F - 85°F (4°C - 30°C) will significantly increase range.
  • Once the charger turns green, remove the battery from the charger. Do not leave your battery on the charger for an extended period of time.
  • Never charge your battery overnight or leave it unsupervised.

Over time, the cells in the battery will lose their charge, and you will not see the same mileage or top speed per charge, and the battery will eventually need to be replaced.

Here are some simple steps to take if you need to store your battery for an extended period of time, or you are not able to use your bike.

  1. Charge Level: Before storing the batteries, make sure they are at around 50% charge. This helps to prevent stress on the battery during long periods of inactivity. Do not store a discharged battery. It could go into deep discharge which will reduce its life
  2. Temperature: While lithium batteries can tolerate a range of temperatures, it's best to store them in a cool, dry place. Extreme temperatures, whether hot or cold, can degrade the battery's performance.
  3. Protection from Moisture: Ensure that the shed is protected from moisture and direct exposure to the elements. Moisture can lead to corrosion and other damage to the batteries.
  4. Isolation: Store the batteries away from flammable materials and ensure they are not in a position where they could be damaged or punctured.
  5. Regular Checks: Periodically check on the batteries to ensure they are in good condition. If the shed is accessible, it's a good idea to inspect the batteries every few weeks.

By following these ownership tips and maintenance guidelines, you can ensure that your Zooz Bike remains in excellent condition for years to come. Remember, a well-maintained bike not only performs better but also provides a safer and more enjoyable riding experience.
